Over the weekend the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) announced that they were advising against all non-essential travel to mainland Spain. [UPDATE: Since the weekend's update, this now includes the Balearic and Canary Islands].
In relation to nursery, the FCO and Government guidance therefore means, that any of our families and/or staff members who are returning from Spain, and/or the Balearic or Canary Islands, on or after 26th July 2020, must quarantine for 14 days from date of return, and therefore keep themselves/their child/children away from nursery for this 14-day period. For avoidance of doubt, some of the popular holiday destinations that parents and/or staff will have to quarantine/isolate for 14 days if returning from, are:
We must also stress that if you have any extended family members and/or friends who are returning from these countries/areas (that you may currently be seeing in line with social distancing guidelines), or grandparents/family members etc. that may be helping you with childcare, you should not see them at all if they have returned, or are due to return, from Spain, Canary or Balearic Islands after 26th July 2020. Government advice says that those having to quarantine upon return from one of these destinations should not have visitors (including friends and family, unless they are providing essential care). Should not go out to work, school/nursery, or visit public areas. Should not go shopping (including buying groceries). This guidance will remain in place until further notice.
