By Thursday 1st November 2018, Station Road, Aldridge, will be turned into 'Poppy Road'.
You can already see all the effort that has gone in to turning the Road in to a sea of Red Poppies, by local residents, the Local History Society and Aldridge School, to name a few. We have been busy doing what we can too with our children, staff, parents, grandparents and more all chipping in to create as many Poppies as possible. Andy at The Dulux Decorator Centre in Birchills, Walsall, deserves a special mention and big thank you from us, as he has very kindly donated a gallon of red and black paint for us to paint Poppies all along our outdoor fence, for this very worthy cause and occasion. The fence will be able to be seen from the main Walsall Road as people are passing by, so will hopefully draw lots of spectators down to see the rest of the decorations. Please encourage friends and family to come along and visit the road to commemorate our soldiers. On Friday the 2nd of November Wendy Morton, MP for Aldridge, and the Mayor for the West Midlands, Andy Street, will be visiting Station Road. On Wednesday 7th November, the Mayor and Mayoress of Walsall will also be coming to see the amazing effort that has been put into Poppy Road. And finally on Sunday 11th November, a few of us will be at nursery from 9.30am for the culmination of the event, so please do come down and join us with your families (we’ll have hot choccy and treats!). Residents of Station Road will then be walking to the Community Centre around 10am to join the parade to the war memorial outside of Aldridge Parish Church. Comments are closed.
