Today marks the start of our new initiative of inter-generational care, our Preschool children will be piloting a visit this afternoon to a local care home, The Hawthorns, to sing some nursery rhymes to the residents. Recent studies have shown that inter-generational sessions help to improve babies’ and toddler’s speech and cognitive development as well as improving the emotional and social well-being of the elderly. Much has been learnt from similar activities at other care homes and those involved have reported positively and recommend the program to other homes.
